One of the mathematical tools used in technical trading is a stochastic oscillator, a graph that charts fluctuations in stock closing prices as well as several functions related to the closing prices.  The %K function on a stochastic oscilator relates the current closing price to the high and low closing prices over the past 14 days.  The %D function is the moving average of the %K function over a period of 3 or more days.  You can use spreadsheet progarms or statisitcal analysis programs to compute the %K and %D values, or you can use this online calculator. Simple enter the daily closing prices for a period of up to 3 months, and the calculator will output the %K and 5D values.
